The real problem

You were taught badly, or not at all

Struggle in the water is a mechanics problem, not a talent problem. Fix the mechanics and the same body, the same lungs, the same fitness suddenly swim better. Sound familiar?

"Am I too old to learn?"

No. Anyone can learn to swim at any age. Maria has taught adults who avoided the deep end for decades. Mechanics first, then repetition until it feels natural.

"I train more but don't get faster."

Slow pace is usually a technique problem, not a fitness problem. More laps with a broken stroke just rehearse the break. Rebuild the stroke and the clock moves.

"I swallow water every breath."

Breathing is timing, not lung capacity. There is a pocket of air next to your head on every stroke. Maria teaches you to find it, step by step.

"I'm fine until I get tired."

Then your technique is borrowed, not owned. Good mechanics hold up under fatigue. That's the whole point of building them properly.

Two ways to train. One coach.

Her eyes on your stroke, wherever you swim

Film your swim and send it in. Maria breaks it down frame by frame, shows you exactly what's costing you, and builds a plan around your pool and your schedule. She has trained plenty of complete beginners this way. Video hides nothing.

How it works

Three steps to easier water

No phone tag, no packages to decode. One short quiz, then a plan, then the work.

Step 01

Take the 60-second quiz

A few quick questions: where you are, where you want to be, and what has gone wrong before. Then your name and number. No prep needed, no pressure at the end.

Step 02

Get your plan

Maria reads your answers herself and reaches out — usually within a day — with a recommendation: a first lesson in Tampa or a video analysis online. You'll know exactly what you're fixing and in what order.

Step 03

Train with feedback

Session by session, Maria rebuilds the mechanics and reinforces them until they hold under fatigue. You feel the difference before you see it on the clock.

About Maria

A world record, then a method

Maria Rezhylo grew up racing in Ukraine and swam her way to a deaf world record in the 50m breaststroke, European and world deaf champion titles, and two NCAA All-American honors before turning professional.

Along the way she earned degrees in Sports Business Management and Exercise Science, and learned what most elite swimmers never have to articulate: exactly why a stroke works, and exactly how to build one from nothing. That's the method behind Fast Swim Academy.

Her belief is simple: anyone can learn to swim at any age. Struggle in the water is a mechanics problem, not a talent problem. Teach the mechanics, reinforce them until they feel natural, and the water stops being an opponent.

Swimmer stories

The next story on this wall could be yours.

Maria doesn't publish borrowed testimonials or invented names. Every review here will be a real swimmer she coached. Until then, ask her for references when she reaches out, or watch her coach in public on Instagram.

Before you ask

Fair questions, straight answers

Anything else, send it Maria's way — she reads every quiz that comes in and answers honestly, including when the answer is that coaching isn't the right fit yet.

Take the quiz
Can I really learn to swim at my age?

Yes. Maria hears this from people at 45 and at 60, and her answer comes from experience, not optimism: she has seen it happen, repeatedly. Skill acquisition slows with age, but swimming is mechanics, and mechanics can be taught to anyone willing to show up.

Does online coaching actually work?

It does, including for beginners. Maria has trained many swimmers fully remote. Video shows her things a deck view can hide: your catch, your timing, your body position, frame by frame. You get her eyes on your stroke, wherever your pool is.

Do I need to get in shape before starting?

No. Technique comes before distance in Maria's coaching, always. Good mechanics make swimming feel easier at any fitness level, and fitness builds naturally once the stroke stops fighting you.

Who does Maria coach?

Beginners, competitive swimmers, open water swimmers, triathletes and Ironman athletes, and fitness swimmers who want their pool time to count. In Tampa and online, from first strokes to race preparation, always one-on-one.

Where do in-person lessons happen?

In Tampa, at 2525 N Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa, FL 33607. Every lesson is one-on-one with Maria.

What happens after I take the quiz?

Choosing in-person? You book and pay for your $120 intro lesson right in the quiz — pick a time and you're done. Going online, or not sure yet? Maria reads your answers herself and reaches out within a day with what she'd honestly do in your situation. No pressure, no hard sell.
